Chipola College Indians take out Florida Title

The Chipola College Indians captured the men’s FCCAA/Region VIII state Basketball Championship Saturday with a 71-59 win over defending champion Okaloosa-Walton.
Chipola played host to the state tournament and took early advantage of their home-court advantage in the Johnson Health Center.

Tournament MVP Je’kel Foster and fellow Indian Mario Jointer hit back to back threes to put Chipola up 16-7 at the 15 minute mark of the first half. With 7 minutes left in the first, Va’shun Newborne made a three and followed with a lay-up to push the Indians up 29-15.  Newborne led the Indians with 19 points and 12 rebounds.
