cayuga COMMUNITY COLLEGE

 

 Cayuga Community College  is a 2 year junior college and is a unit of the State University of New York. The college is sponsored by Cayuga County and governed by a Ten member board of trustees.

 

The Institution's Auburn campus is situated in the city of Auburn in Cayuga County, the center of the Finger Lakes Region of Central New York. The School's Fulton campus is situated in the city of Fulton in Oswego County, just Ten miles from the southeast shore of Lake Ontario.

Both areas offer excellent cultural and recreational opportunities including a variety of museums, parks, and theatrical and musical venues. Rochester and Syracuse are within easy driving distance from both locations.

Oswego and Cayuga counties are mainly rural. Cayuga County has an area of  Seven hundred square miles and is bordered on the north by Lake Ontario with the majority of its industrial development centered in Auburn, the county seat.  The surrounding area is mainly farmland. Oswego County has an area of  Nine hundred and sixty square miles, borders the southeastern shore of Lake Ontario from the city of Oswego through Sandy Creek.

 Cayuga Community College offers transfer and career-oriented curricula on a degree and certificate basis through day, night, and summer sessions. The College also offers special programs arranged with area employers and school districts aimed at bringing Cayuga Community College courses directly to workplaces and high schools. A growing number of credit and credit-free courses are also available online; some degree programs, in fact, can be completed entirely online. More than Ninety percent of Cayuga graduates either transfer to 4 year colleges or enter the workforce.

With more than Three thousand students enrolled at its locations in Oswego and Cayuga counties, the School combines hands-on training with professional networking in sophisticated programs such as  geographic information systems, broadcasting and CADD/solid modeling. The newest building on the Auburn campus, the Regional Economic Center, houses a unique NASA-sponsored complex to develop remote imaging applications.

Intercollegiate Sports at Cayuga

Cayuga Community College is a member school of the National Junior College Athletics Association, Div. 3 Region 3, and offers the following team sports:

  • Women's and Men's Basketball
  • Women's and Men's Lacrosse
  • Women's and Men's Soccer

Cayuga Community College  not only provides its students with interesting and competitive athletic challenges; team sports at Cayuga also provide athletes with opportunities to improve their social skills as well through teamwork and cooperation.

The team sports at Cayuga mirror those sports that are popular in the high schools and playing fields of Central New York, giving local students a place to further develop their talents and continue their athletic careers. Student athletes from outside this region of the state benefit from the expert coaching and high level of play Cayuga offers in these sports.
