Chattahoochee valley community COLLEGE

Chattahoochee Valley Community College was founded in 1973 by an act of the Alabama State Legislature. the College is located in Phenix City Alabama, the School was established to serve the citizens of Russell County and parts of Lee, Macon, Bullock and Barbour Counties.

The Institution also serves the citizens of the Phenix City, Alabama and the Fort Benning-Columbus, Georgia, metropolitan area. Because this service area contains both rural and urban areas, the educational needs of the citizens are many and varied.

Chattahoochee Valley Community College opened in temporary buildings in Jan. 1974. In 1976, the School moved to its present permanent location at 2602 College Drive. In the fall of 2000 the Chattahoochee Valley had an enrollment of about 1739 students. The 103-acre campus site on which the School is situated includes 8 permanent buildings.

Chattahoochee Valley Community College is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the Alabama Junior and Community College Conference. The school takes part in varsity athletic competition including men's baseball and women's fastpitch softball. The college competes with other member institutions of its conference and community colleges from other states.
