On July 1, 1988, the Ohio Board of Regents approved a further name change from Clark Technical College to Clark State Community College. Clark State has now included Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees (university parallel programs) to the nearly thirty technical associate degrees and certificates that it had been previously offering. Clark State's commitment to the athletic program provides students with opportunities to compete against other colleges at the varsity level in women's softball, volleyball and basketball and men's baseball and basketball. The College competes in Region XII of the National Junior College Athletic Association and regularly plays teams from Michigan and Ohio. Clark State is also a member of the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference
