Colby Community College is situated in the northwest of Kansas, about fifty miles from the Nebraska and Colorado borders. The area is part of the High Plains, sweeping upward to the Rocky Mountains Two hundred and fifty miles further west.

 

The school's main campus is on Eighty acres in Colby, the institution runs a Sixty acre agricultural center east of the city. Students in agriculture-related programs have access to the college farm as a hands-on lab. and training facility.

Colby Community College offers a wide range choices when it comes to selecting a program of study. There are over sixty vocational and academic programs to choose from.  Academic programs focus on fulfilling general education requirements to prepare students for successful transfer to a 4 year university or entry into the job market. Vocational programs feature 2 years of intensive training preparing students for employment immediately after graduation.

80% percent of the school's students receive some form of financial assistance. Over 1/3 of Colby's students receive a scholarship or scholarships. Pell Grants, College Work-Study, Student Loans, as well as many other forms of financial assistance programs are given according to financial need.

Colby Community College is a member of the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference, and is a Division One member of the National Junior College Athletic Association in baseball, softball, men's and women's golf, men's and women's basketball, volleyball, wrestling, cross country and indoor/outdoor track and field.
