The baseball program started in the fall of 1990, playing a fifty six game schedule in the spring against some of the top ranked colleges in the country. A women's basketball team was added for the 1993-94 season. Due to budgetary constraints, the volleyball, softball and baseball programs were cut in Spring 2003. Cougar athletics is dedicated to high standards both in the classroom and on the field or court. Athletes get a great education, as they play competitive athletic teams. Intercollegiate athletic programs offer a high level of competition at local, state, regional and national levels, with scholarship money available for athletes in all sports at the College. Many Cougar athletes have continued their education by earning athletic scholarships at 4 year universities. Endurance exercises increase breathing and heart rate, which in turn benefit the lungs, heart, and circulatory system. Endurance can increase stamina and delay or prevent many age-associated diseases such as diabetes, colon cancer, heart disease and stroke. Andy Roddick is so excited about playing for a gold medal at the 2004 Olympic Games that he’s going to go for it twice. Roddick will be competing in both doubles and the singles at the Games. Sprains, strains and contusions or bruising are some of the more common injuries associated with practicing martial arts. Strains can occur in both muscles and tendons and are caused by a sudden and extreme force that is greater than that area’s ability to handle.
